Calibration

Inertia during acceleration and deceleration

As is well known, the calibration process is accessed via the advanced fine-tuning options in the locomotive properties.

Fig: Drive

What influence do the sliders for inertia (acceleration and deceleration) in the drive register have on the locomotive characteristics?

Inertial Shift Mechanism

Jürgen Freiwald gives the following answer in the forum:

The inertia sliders in TrainController influence software-wise the dynamics with which the vehicle is controlled by the software.

Advanced Fine-Tuning

For all functions of the extended fine-tuning, the program is informed of the vehicle's hardware-related driving characteristics.

Since the above-described software-side settings do not change the hardware-side driving characteristics of the vehicle, it is also irrelevant what values these are set to when advanced fine-tuning functions (e.g., calibration) are performed.

Locomotive is driven manually

Mr. Freiwald further describes in the forum:

These settings only have an effect if the locomotive is driven manually and the speed is not automatically set by the computer.
